Africa Trips
Why Travel Solo To Africa?
Go back to where it all began for the ultimate in wildlife, culture and beach-side living
Begin in South Africa to abseil down Table Mountain, swim with seals and embark on open-top game drives on the Eastern Cape. In Tanzania, take a walking safari through Serengeti National Park and marvel at the Big 5 in Ngorongoro Crater, with time left over to bask on the pristine beaches of Zanzibar.
Head north on this vast continent to arrive in Egypt, with its ancient pyramids and sunset sailing on the Nile. In Morocco, come face-to-face with snake-charmers and storytellers; a place of spice-infused souks and authentic Berber guesthouses in the hazy Atlas foothills. Climb to the peak of Mount Toubkal – North Africa’s highest mountain – or learn to surf on the Atlantic coast of Taghazout. Whether you’re searching for sunset camel rides in the Saharan desert or safari sundowners, Africa is set up to offer the finest of adventures.
Africa facts
From food to landscapes, here are a few things you should know about Africa
Demographic
The population of Africa currently stands at around 1.3 billion people, spanning from Morocco and Egypt in the north to Zimbabwe, Botswana and South Africa in the south. The most populated country is Nigeria, and the least populated are the Seychelles islands.
Heritage
From Giza to Luxor, Egypt lays claim to an ancient heritage like nowhere else on the continent. In Mali and Senegal, you’ll find a rich musical culture with international appeal; and Zanzibar offers a unique atmosphere, owing to its blend of Arab and Indian influences.
Food
Rice, meats and regional produce feature heavily across the continent, but there are a few stand-out dishes: piri-piri chicken in Mozambique; a bubbling potjie (meat stew) in Botswana and South Africa; a Moroccan bastilla dusted with almonds.
Landscapes
From the hot sands of the Sahara Desert to the lush tropical coastline, Africa’s landscapes are as vast as they are diverse. The Serengeti Plains give rise to the almighty Mount Kilimanjaro, while hosting a rich abundance of wildlife.
Wildlife
Africa is the only continent where you’ll encounter the majestic Big Five in their natural habitat: lions, leopards, elephants, rhino and buffalo. You’ll also encounter zebras, antelope and wildebeest in many African countries, and mountain gorillas in Rwanda.
