The very best feel-good Instagram Lives to tune into every day

One of the positives to have come out of our lockdown experience has been how brands and celebrities have taken to instagram in their droves to offer up a variety of feel-good content. Their response to the new restrictions on our lives has seen us spoilt for choice with free exercise classes, poetry readings, cooking demonstrations and more, arriving to the platform daily. Feeling good comes from feeling connected, healthy and entertained – so we’ve pulled together some of the best daily content out there to make this new way of living feel totally do-able. And remember, it won’t last forever.

Looks like today’s IG live was a HIIT! Swipe right for tomorrow’s IG live class times! #barryon
Whether you’re in the camp of ‘I’d never spend that much on a gym’ or ‘It’s expensive but it’s totally worth it’ – boutique gyms such as Barry’s Bootcamp and 1Rebel don’t come cheap. Until now. Yes, we know Instagram Live isn’t quite the same as being inside these neon-lit super-gyms, but thanks to lockdown we all now have free access to their expert high-energy trainers who know exactly how to make the most of a quick 30-minute workout. The fact you’re getting your sweat on alongside hundreds of other people adds a sense of connection to the whole experience. Treat yourself to some luxury toiletries for your shower and you’ve pretty much got the real thing at home. Take a look at their Instagram pages for the latest live schedules.
Michelin Star Cooking with Massimo Bottura
His tutorials take viewers through simple yet delicious recipes, and he even answers questions that come in from those tuned in. Follow the hashtag used by Massimo #quarantinekitchen and you’ll also see a mouth-watering feed of culinary inspiration from around the world. If there’s one rule to live by right now, it’s this: when in lockdown, eat well.
Globally renowned Italian chef Massimo Bottura – who has three Michelin stars to his name, no less – has taken to Instagram Live to treat his followers to daily cooking classes. That’s right, free cooking classes with a Michelin star chef. Post-Barry’s workout and luxurious shower. Who even are you?
Daily meditation with Beeja
There’s no denying it, this new way of life can be tough – and it’s important we check in with ourselves from time to time to see how we’re feeling. Stress and anxiety can manifest itself in a variety of ways, and when stuck inside all day our minds can go into overdrive. Which is why a daily meditation session should be high up on your list of priorities (even for the cynical amongst you). Giving yourself a moment to stop and breathe – letting any fear for the future leave you for a while – really is the best tonic. We’re grateful we stumbled across Beeja Meditation, which is currently offering free daily meditation streams via Instagram at midday. The perfect way to break up your day and reset your mind.
Live Concerts with Levis
With concerts and theatre shows all cancelled for the foreseeable future, it may be that you’re craving some entertainment and escapism. Thankfully, Levis has stepped up with it’s 5:01 LIVE series – showcasing a different music artist who performs live each evening at 5:01 PST (at 1am UK time, the Brits amongst you might prefer to catch up the next day). A perfect feel-good watch and a great way to expand your music portfolio with little effort.
Live dance parties with Lady Gaga’s backup dancer
At the end of this we’re all going to need a BNO (big night out), but in the meantime, these hilarious and positive dance parties with Mark Kanemura will do. Set up a group meet with friends on zoom and party together. You can expect upbeat music and extravagant dance moves – which you’re welcome to follow or just resort to your own. Bit of a prude? Give it a go, you’ll be smiling and jumping around in no time at all – trust us. Sometimes we need to let go of our inhibitions in order to really feel good.
Much-needed humour with Sam Neill
Out of all the celebrities to capitalise on the current crisis, Sam Neill might be one of the least expected (and most unassuming). Best known for his role in Jurassic Park, Sam’s daily updates of his life in lockdown are the breath of fresh air and laughter we all need – and his dulcet tones are pretty soothing too. From poetry and songs to rambling musings about the beauty of birds and an account of how he washed his sneakers – he somehow makes you grateful for the smaller things in life – something we all need to remember to be time and again.
