Why travel solo to Thailand?

Thailand conjures images of tropical beaches, world-famous street food and golden temples – complemented by an easy-going, fun-loving national spirit.

Celebrated around the world for its cuisine, you’re likely to be familiar with the flavors of Thailand already. Travel to Bangkok and you’ll feel the culinary dream unfold around you, amid market stalls selling everything from crispy fried banana to piping hot noodles. Built on the banks of the Chao Phraya river, your first impressions may well be of a bustling metropolis of skyscrapers and hyper-development; but Old Bangkok still peeks out between the cracks, in its golden temples, quiet alleys and traditional shop fronts.

Further north, the cities of Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai retain a more provincial charm, marked by traces of the Lanna Kingdom which once ruled the north. The temples here are some of the most unique in the country: hilltop shrines guarded by giant serpents, intricate structures that could have been carved of ice, ultra-modern altars painted in cobalt blue.

Thailand’s south is most famous for its tropical beaches and epic limestone cliffs. Krabi Province, in particular, is a mecca for rock-climbers, attracting adventurous types of all levels. Looking for an active adventure? We can’t recommend Thailand enough.
